Let's get lost in each other
Sometimes I want to sit down with every 11 year old girl and just tell them that they’re fantastic. That it’s okay to play with dolls still, and it’s okay to still want to sleep in bed with mom. I would tell them that the boy they love is going to get really unattractive when he’s older, and that when she gets hot he’ll want her then. And that, even though she won’t believe me, that she won’t want him. I want to tell them that you don’t have to fit in anywhere, you don’t have to have a best friend and that your first kiss isn’t all that special. I would tell them that an A cup is more than okay, and a hell of a lot better than a D. I’d tell them that High schoolers aren’t all that scary, and parents are people too. I’d tell them that the hips they’re getting isn’t called fat, it’s called a body. And even if it was fat, it’s not bad. It’s you. I wish I could tell them everything I wish people told me.
